Oral Test and Interview

After almost a week into Ramadhan, all of us were called to do both the oral test and interview.  Both the oral test and interview were meant to be done within a span of two days, however there were some minor changes with the schedule causing it to be stretched out throughout the week, for some of us at least. As a result, some of the other candidates had to come back another day for their interviews. I felt relieved after knowing that I was lucky enough to be able to do both the oral test and interview on the same day. The oral test consisted of an individual presentation and a group discussion.

For the individual presentation, we were given five minutes to prepare for a specified topic by writing our ideas on a piece of paper before presenting it for about another five minutes in front of the panel members. In my case, I was given a topic to talk about what I feared most about my future.  In my opinion, we were given too little time for preparation since during the actual presentation, I was able to go through everything I brainstormed on the paper within just two minutes. As a result, I had to improvise and come up with whatever I could from the top of my head for the remaining duration. Fortunately in the end, I managed to pull through.

After a short while, for the group discussion, we were given another five minutes for preparation. For our case, we had to discuss whether online learning is a good or bad thing. The only part I remembered about the discussion was how fast we went through each point as we were only given five minutes to draw a conclusion to our topic. We all took turns sharing our thoughts and discussed the pros and cons of online learning.  In the end, we managed to draw a proper conclusion among ourselves after stating each of our respective points.

Finally, for the interview that day I was interviewed by three civilian and three military personnel which included our syndicate officers. At first I was slightly nervous and anxious for the interview, however I managed to calm myself down before the interview knowing that there is not much to worry about since I am just going to be myself after all. I only remembered mostly being asked about my personal life, my experiences, my intended course and most importantly, whether I am ready to take on a life of being in the military. I do remember being struck by several hard situational questions that I wasn't prepared for. However in the end, I handled it by simply answering how I would personally react being in those kinds of situations.

After that day, I personally thought my oral test and interview went smoothly and splendid.  As I see it, nothing much went wrong as I was able to do what the interviewers wanted me to do and that was to be myself and most importantly, to show who I truly am as a person.
