Roadshow! A week that was filled with trips around the high schools in Brunei, while promoting the scholarships to students. Some of the schools we visited were Pusat Tingkatan Enam Tutong (PTET), Sekolah Menengah Sayyidina Ali (SMSA), Pusat Tingktan Enam Sengkurong (PTES), Maktab Duli PMAMB, and Maktab Sains Paduka Seri Begawan Sultan.

Through the communication training we have received from Dr. Chris and Mr. Stuard, along with Ms.Susie's guidance, we were able to polish our presentation skills and deliver the presentation with ease. Of course, perfection comes from several failures and attempts to eradicate any issues when arise. The commons were technical issues with audio quality as well as our posture as a presenter (trust me, the audience can tell when you are nervous). Practice is the key!

As we went from one school to another, a task became an enjoyment, and what seems to feel like a pressure in our nerves became a diamond in the process (i.e. when an impact was made on the students through gained in insights or a motive to study smarter).

The secret to an engaging roadshow, as I've learnt, is to a change in perspective: a shift in attention to the audience is your focus, knowing what interest your audience then customize your presentation to their needs. Another learning point would be to speak spontaneously instead of relying on a piece of script, which was a frequent mistake by many.

Joyce, Saro and I have journeyed yet another adventurous week – interacting with students that may be future scholars on a personal level, and learning while growing into young promising scholars that MinDef aspires to see.

As for our fitness training, 6km run was rescheduled to night time at National Stadium due to the commencement of Ramadhan.
